When it comes to special occasions and important events, I love dressing up and making myself feel and look as good as I possibly could. As I’m sure everyone else does. That’s why we are always willing to go that extra mile to ensure that the big event has no disappointments, including ourselves!

But before you can enjoy not having any setbacks, It is important to understand how to prevent those from happening. It starts from within and it then proceeds to the exterior. That’s why I am here to share my prepping routine with you so our skin is perfect and our belly’s are flat and not bloated!

7 days before..

It all starts on the inside. We need to make sure we cleanse our body and rid it of all the awful toxins that Is inside of it. You can do this by eliminating unbeneficial and not-so-nutritious food from your diet.

Sugars: No sweets and (don’t hate me) chocolates.

Starch’s: No bread, pasta and certain cereals.

Fried: No takeaways or fried food. Keep everything grilled!

Alcohol: Not copious amounts every day but 1 or 2 glasses (not bottles) before the event is just fine!

So when you cut those things out of your diet you now have room to gain better habits and help your body. Have a glass of warm water with freshly squeezed lemon juice every morning 20 minutes before you have your breakfast, this helps to kick start your digestive system and get the metabolism going.

Have at least 2 litres of water a day, hydrating your body and skin is so important.

Make sure your meals are filled with fresh veggies and good quality protein as well!

5 days before..

I always love to prep a homemade body scrub for myself or you can use any body scrub of your choice then gently dry body brush the skin all over. This stimulates circulation in the body, helps get rid of dead skin cells and helps treat/prevent cellulite. BONUS!

Moisturise your skin, gently massaging it in small circular motions.

Then treat yourself to a little bit of down time and go get a mani and a pedi!

4 days before..

It’s always good to up your skincare routine so what I like to do is exfoliate my skin thoroughly for a good 5 minutes, massaging it and being sure to keep the circulation and blood flowing. I then follow that with a face mask and a big glass of water!

Its transformation time!

And by transformation I mean it’s time to get rid of those caveman leg hairs. You can transform from caveman to dolphin in seconds.

Hair removal is essential, especially if you’re wearing a dress. The last thing you want is to be  feeling self conscious because you didn’t get rid of it.

Be sure to book all your hair and nail appointments in advance so there’s no last minute stress of finding a salon that can fit you in! I also like to squeeze in a cheeky eyebrow shape and tint then go off and get my nails done so they have enough time to dry properly and not get damaged before the event.

2 days before..

I personally don’t include this in my routine but if it’s something you can’t go without then I’ve added this one, just for you!

Prepping for your fake tan. You need to exfoliate and moisturise your whole body focusing more on the drier areas such as your knees and elbows. Hydrate your skin and make sure you wax or shave at least 24 hours before your fake tan so your pores aren’t open and you don’t get some sort of nasty reaction.

Make sure you have the correct formula and shade that you want and then..

1 day before..

Time to get that fake tan on! Moisturise your whole body, making sure you’re extra generous with the cream on your knees and elbows.

Protect your hands and do them as well as your feet, last.

Wash your hair and start planning your outfit and getting it ready.

On the big day..

Now because you are so organised and have done everything before hand, you aren’t left to rush and do so many tasks. All you need to do is get dress and put some makeup on, few squirts of perfume here and there and you’re ready to go!

Time to dance and party, feeling better then ever!

Its that easy and when you have done things over the time leading up to the day, you find that it a lot less stressful and way more enjoyable getting ready!
