Estee Lauder has always been one of the make up brands that I found myself constantly going back to when I had finished certain makeup products.
Mid year in 2013, I fell quite sick and discovered myself at home quite a bit of the time – completely bored out of my mind so I tried to keep myself as preoccupied as possible but that didn’t always work. I got cabin fever so quickly and couldn’t spend more than a few hours in the house. So to take up my time I watched YouTube makeup tutorials and tried to duplicate what they did on their face, onto mine. (emphasis on tried) but with that I found a new admiration for make up.
It was during that time that I knew I wanted to take make up further and grow my somewhat collection that I already had and my knowledge on make up, since then I have gotten a Diploma in Personal Beauty and I have received a Diploma in Makeup and Hair.
One day my mom and I set off to the mall and unintentionally came across the Estee Lauder stand in Edgars. Needless to say, that’s where it all started. I got my first few makeup products from there that day; a foundation, powder and a mascara and since that day my little Estee collection hasn’t stopped growing.
My obsession with Estee Lauder products isn’t just because of the effortlessly elegant packaging, it’s because I have found products that work perfectly for my skin through summer and winter. They are consistent every time and their formulas are always so creamy and easy to apply.
I was hardly disappointed when trying products that I had repurchased and products that I was trying for the first time.
- Double Wear Maximum Cover Foundation (In 1N3 Creamy Vanilla for winter and 2C5 Creamy Tan for Summer)
This must be one of my most favourite foundations of all time. Its full coverage, matte and very easy to apply. Lasts the whole day, evens out skin tone and can be built up to your desired coverage.
Recommend: Apply this foundation with a foundation brush.
- Double Wear Concealer in 1W Light
This concealer was the first concealer I had ever purchased and boy did it set the bar high. Although there are many amazing concealers, this is one that I loved from the beginning. Its full coverage, takes away dark shades under the eye and highlights the under eye making the face look brighter. It’s a great travel size and doesn’t take up much space at all.
Recommend: You can apply this concealer with a brush or a finger. I apply it with my finger and then blend it out with a beauty blender.
Note: This concealer does crease quite easily so be sure to set it as soon as you have buffed it into the skin to ensure it doesn’t crease!
- Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear concealer
This is one of the newer concealers that I have purchased, my Double Wear Concealer had run out and I thought I would get one that had a stick to make applying that much easier. Needless to say, I love it!
I find that it doesn’t crease as easily as the above one and it definitely is easier to apply. Has full coverage and is matte, highlights the under eye and brightens the whole face.
Recommend: Apply with the stick and buff out with a beauty blender or a clean foundation/concealer brush.
- Double Wear Brush-On-Glow BB Highlighter
I would initially wear this when I wanted more of a radiant look. It rids the face of fatigue and is perfect for a hot summer’s day!
It has more of a light coverage and can be used to strobe the face.
It comes with a brush applicator on the product and you can twist the bottom for the desired amount of highlighter that you want.
Recommend: Apply with brush applicator and then blend with a beauty blender. (Clearly I love my beauty blenders)
- Invisible Powder Makeup in 1CN1 111
This is perfect as an all over face powder or an under eye setting powder.
Recommend: Apply this with a big, fluffy powder brush.
Note: Although the name of this powder is “Invisible Powder Makeup” it is not invisible, there is a definite colour to it so make sure you get it in the shade that matches your skin tone best!
- Sumptuous Infinite Daring Length + Volume Mascara
They weren’t lying when they said this mascara adds length and volume to your lashes!
I generally use this mascara for my top lashes and I LOVE it! They look so thick, long and full of volume without clumping!
It separates well and works for both the top and bottom lashes.
- Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara
I usually put this mascara on my bottom lashes because it’s easy to apply and doesn’t bunch up my lashes. I just find that when my eyelashes bunch, it closes my eye more then opens it.
This mascara adds length to my lashes and completes the overall look of the eye!
It’s pretty apparent that I prefer full coverage makeup products to light/medium coverage purely for the fact that during the week I hardly wear make up and when I do it’s for meetings or for the weekends so I would naturally want it to last longer.
Do you want to know one of the best parts of these cream products? They’re non-acnegenic so they won’t clog your pores! Can I get a Hallelujah?
To sum this all up, when I am at the mall I always see myself involuntarily walking to the Estee Lauder counter to see what’s new and what I can break my bank balance with (again).
If you are new to makeup and are looking for a good high quality makeup brand to start off your makeup collection/career, like I did, I would definitely recommend Estee Lauder to you! It’s reliable and a little bit goes a long way. Have fun with it!
